Margo Smith has many interests and hobbies, but three primary interests in her life are.. Ballet, Deaf Culture and running businesses.
Although not a dancer, she has a passion for Ballet and enjoys all aspects of the Theater and Performing Arts. Attending ballets, plays and live theater is one of her most relaxing times.
She has 24 years of Postal experience, and this is where she was introduced into the deaf world. One of her best friends was a Deaf co-worker that began to teach her sign language in 1983. She started learning this beautiful and expressive language and has loved it ever since.
Due to her fascination of this "Picturesque language", she later took various classes on different levels to enhance her skills. She later started to interpret for the Post Office at their meetings and functions. As time went on, she would interpret for other organizations and functions outside of the Postal Service.
In addition to her regular jobs, she has several businesses that she runs and operates. Some of these includes an ATM business which provides ATM Sales, Services, Placements and Repairs... She is a Licenced Real Estate Agent with a Property Management Business, and on occasion she does free-lance Sign Language Interpreting.
She was a Hospitality Associate for the Gallaudet University Conference Center Hotel for 8 years, where she served the deaf (and hearing) community. She has been working in different capacities since she was 16 years old (part time and in high school)...
Her goal now is to eventually retire, settle down and have a variety of farm animals on a peaceful farm setting and enjoy a stress-free, fun filled loving country life.
She enjoys her involvement with B.E.L.I.E.V.E., and is looking forward to a rewarding experience with this group as they will be doing a plethora of services, activities and signed performances in the very near future. In so doing, she hopes to continue to learn and improve her craft in the Sign Language Arena.
